Virginia Automated Vehicle Strategic Plan

Foursquare ITP served as the task lead for coordinating stakeholder input (internal and external) and providing input into an automated vehicles (AV) strategic plan for Virginia’s Office of Intermodal Planning and Investment. This work included gathering input from a wide variety of agencies, disciplines, and private sector actors. Participants ranged from the motor vehicle administration and motor vehicle dealer regulators, highway operations, public transportation, bicycle and pedestrian planning, statewide planning, IT, financial planners, OEMs, non-profits, and AV suppliers, among others. Input gathered was used to shape the plan’s immediate strategies, focused within a three-year, five-year, and seven-year period. We also provided staff support for several internal stakeholder meetings of the state’s automated 20XX working group and a charrette to review the draft plan with a wide range of high-level private industry representatives.
