In the Baltimore metropolitan region, the MDOT MTA Office of Service Development (OSD) is responsible for establishing bus stops, maintaining an accurate list of bus stops, ensuring that all existing and proposed stops are compliant with the MDOT MTA Bus Stop Guidelines, and for making necessary changes to bus stops five times a year. The Ridership by Stop Dashboard and Bus Stop Capacity Dashboard are designed to assist in ensuring that the Bus Stop Guidelines are adhered to when changes are made.
The Ridership by Stop Dashboard shows the number of boardings and/or alightings at each stop in the BaltimoreLink system. Data can be filtered by route and/or stop and downloaded for further analysis.
The Bus Stop Capacity Dashboard assists in determining if there is sufficient capacity to add service at an existing bus stop, and in evaluating the impact of buses laying over at a particular location. OSD staff will need to make a final determination on a case-by-case basis, but this tool will compile and visualize all the schedule data for easier and quicker analysis.
